Bagpiper

My daughter, who is 10, is a music freak. She loves all kinds of music...classical, jazz, pop (although NOT Miley Sirus or Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers), R & B, rock, country, etc. So, when we saw and heard this bagpiper at the Renaissance Festival she begged me to take a portrait of him. She loves the sound of bagpipes and thinks they are even cooler looking.

I was hesitant, as I hate approaching people while they are concentrating on their work, but she insisted, so I did. I was glad I did afterward, as I think this is a pretty decent portrait. I particularly like the overall coolness of the color and the pop of red. I also like how his eyes are diverted and his toe is tapping the beat.

As a photographer I am slowly gaining more confidence about approaching people in public and asking for permission to take a picture. I am shy by nature, so it is stressful for me, but pushing out of my box is what it is all about.
