Winter Stream

I loved how the ripples in the rock mimicked the the ripples of the water. The only way for me to capture the image right in front of my feet was to turn the camera in portrait mode. I typically don't do that for landscapes, but I can now see the advantage of doing so. We went hiking here the other day as I was feeling so down about the loss of my photos. I was anxious to get restarted taking photos again so I could post.

@MadScientist: Thanks! As far as the photos...I am shipping the drive off to a Data Recovery specialist. I will pay a pretty penny, but am fairly certain that I can get my pics back.

Wonderful and you are right about the ripples. As for me, I favor the portrait orientation too much so I'm glad to see that you can understand its potential ;) I think it works very well here. How are things going with the photo retrieval?

@GJC: That is right...you do do a lot of portrait orientation now that I think about it! Maybe that is where I got the idea from ;0) Thanks for the comment! As far as the photo retrieval...look at my response to the comment above.

Wonderful shot....like the low perspective. I'm not ever pleased with my landscape shots...perhaps I should try this trick!

beautiful shot - very typical of winter landscape in the northeast, and I think the "portrait" orientation works well here. I find myself that I tend to take a lot of "portrait" oriented shots - not sure why but I seem to like them more......Happy New Year!
