That's a bummer! You might want to look into getting a Drobo. I have been looking into getting one for a while now, but could never bring myself to spend the money for it. I always go for some other kind of gear. It's not exactly fun to buy backup equipment, but it sure is worth it. Drobo seems the easiest and safest backup system I've seen so far. Check it out. Hope you can recover your photos!

I dread the thought of losing data and photos. It recently happened to my son with one of his hdd's.

I have also been looking into getting a Drobo. It looks pretty easy and sounds like a good system.
