A Map of the Universe

Posted by Tracey (Maryland, United States) on 13 December 2008 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

This is a piece of artwork that my 9 year old daughter made for an art competition. The theme was "Wow!" She had to interpret the theme through artwork. She decided to take 4 photos that she had taken of various objects around the house and then she manipulated the photos in Photoshop until she ended up with each of the 4 images that make up this collage. She then put them together in a collage (because she couldn't choose one she liked better than the others) and called it a Map of the the Universe. She said that when people think of the universe, they think, "Wow!" so she choose to make 3 of the pictures look like a galaxy and the fourth to look like a map.

And guess what? She won at the school level for the intermediate Visual Arts division and now it is being sent on to the county level competition! I am so proud I could pop!

Please join me in congratulating her on a job well done.
