Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

That saying always bothers me. Is it "lie" or "lay"?

To answer your question, I have no idea. Which is why I always say "Leave sleeping dogs alone and if you don't, don't get mad when they snap at your face."

This one screams to be up on a wall somewhere.

Great doggie portrait, lovely coloring. I think it is 'lie'. But you could also say - let sleeping dogs sleep ;)

Lay is to place (lay the book on the table); lie is to recline (let sleeping dogs lie) ... What a sweet shot! I love the peace and contentment you've captured in this shot ... and the light is perfect!

Great shot - really wonderful. It makes me wonder what the dog did that made him so tired!! Great shots really engage the viewer, and I think this one does that.
