This house is in my neighborhood and I am captivated by it. It is abandoned and empty, but still owned my someone. I so badly want to go exploring on the property to get a closer look at the house but am afraid I will get shot! It's not unheard of in these rural parts!
I am working on a project with my kids and need your help. If you live in the United States, please check out this link to my postcrossing blog for details (look in the sidebar under 50 States Challenge): iPost

Very nice image - the composition is excellent and the sign makes an interesting foreground subject. The house is a little out of focus and mysterious (matches with what you wrote about it). I bet the house interior would make for a great photo shoot - but you better try and contact the owner first!!
Your title is mis-spelled - you may want to fix!!

@Chris: Ooops! I fixed it. Thanks for commenting and being my spell checker :0p That is a suggestion I have for Aminus3- add a spell check feature!
What an interesting pic, and interesting tale. Yeah bet you could get some real great shots up close. be careful though.

Call the Farm Bureau and tell them you're interested in purchasing the property. You'll have access (and a totally valid reason to take pictures) before you can say Polaroid Swinger

I like your story, but even without it the photo tells it. I like how you've framed it and the red is striking. A very intirguing image. I often find that in photography the suggestion is better than the reality anyway, so I'd figure out ways to take photos of the place that tell us not what it looks like, but what it might look like and try to communicate what intrigues you. Less is more! You've made a good start here; let's see some more of this same place.
