Stonewall Jackson, Memorialized

This is a statue of Stonewall Jackson at Manassas National Battlefield in Virginia.

@Michael Skorulski: Thank you! I prefer statue pictures to have a different twist rather than straight on. The heart is in the detail!

The angle is good, as are the lighting and shadows. However (and this is just my opinion), the picture feels incomplete or out of balance. This could be due to the extra sky on the left, or that the horses hind legs are missing. Perhaps a tighter shot or crop would balance it out.

@Graham Russon: Thanks for your opinion Graham! I did try a few different crops and liked this one the best visually, but I can see how it feels unbalanced!

@DaveB: Thanks Dave. Don't let the sky fool you! It was only in the teens (F) and the wind was howling. Frostbite material! But, the sky was pretty!

@alla: Yes, a bit of a twist instead of the full view of a statue. I wanted to take away the "tourist" feel.

I like this a lot - the composition works well and the contrast between the siliver statue and the blue sky very nice. A different view of the statue than what most people would take - but that makes it more effective.

@Chris: Thanks for your comments Chris. Although I was on vacation here, I didn't want the typical "tourist" shot. I am glad I achieved that.
